KJIL 12 Songs Of Christmas

Ever wonder what the DJs of KJIL's favorite Christmas Song are? Well, now you can know!

Michael – Smalltown Poets - Good Christian Men Rejoice – It’s joyful and celebrates the reason Christ came to earth.

Delvin - Almost There by Michael W Smith and Amy Grant - Every time I hear it, I can envision Joseph and Mary on their journey.  It also reminds me of when my kids were little on long family trips, asking how much longer we had to be in the car before we reached our destination.  I can hear myself saying "we're almost there."

Blake – We Three Kings – Rend Collective - It's one of my favorite hymns, and my first solo at church was in 1996, when I sang verse 2!

Linda – Mary Did You Know – Danny Gokey - It’s made me wonder what must have filled Mary’s heart as she carried the Christ Child. Danny Gokey shares her story so beautifully. And as I think about her faith, I’m reminded of the angel’s words: “For nothing will be impossible with God.” — Luke 1:37

Patrick
– How Many Kings – Downhere – their whole Christmas album is one of my favorites for the Christmas season.  This song is a reminder to me of the sacrifice that God made in sending his son, Jesus for you and me.  It’s a powerful song that speaks to me even outside of the Christmas season.

Craig – For King and Country – Little Drummer Boy - There’s just something about the way they build that song — all the rhythm, the energy, the heartbeat of it. It feels like the little drummer boy is giving the only gift he has, and somehow it becomes this huge, powerful moment. Every time I hear it, it reminds me that God isn’t asking for perfection… just whatever we have to offer.

Lisa - Terrian - God With Us - The promise of Christmas is simple yet, oh so powerful. God is with us! Scripture tells us that Jesus came as Emmanuel, which means God with us. So in every season, in every joy, in every heartache, and in every challenge. We are never alone in Jesus.

Mark – Maverick City Music – Oh Holy Night - This song triggers memories of being a kid and knowing about Jesus and just liking the song as part of the Christmas season..  As an adult after salvation and becoming a Jesus follower, the song came alive and truly speaks the truth of how and why He came to me.  I know God loves the singer way more than the song, but you’ve got to admit it is truly an incredible song!

Nick – Band Jaren - Carol of the Bells – I love the song Carol of the Bells for the many ways it has been arranged from classical to rock. I spent many years through high school and for 12 years after singing in various choirs. The vocal arrangements to mimic the bell sounds and the sometimes dissonant harmonies were spectacular to sing. However, there's a side of me that likes to turn up the intensity and listen to arrangements like.

Tonya - Make Room -Casting Crowns - Christmas always brings me back to the incredible love God has for us, and this song captures that message so beautifully. Every time it plays, I can’t help but pause, close my eyes, and sing along. It’s become one of those songs that gently pulls my heart back to the true meaning of the season, making room for Jesus in the middle of all the noise and reminding me why this time of year is so special.

Joe - Meredith Andrews - He Has Come For Us - Christmas music is all about nostalgia and that's what this song is for me. This song was released in 2009... and at the time, my daughter was just 1 and as a young family, we were looking for new Christmas traditions to make our own. Meredith was a musician that I had gotten to know over the years, and really loved the voice that God had given to her. So when this song came out, it just struck me with its powerful lyrics. And when I played it for my wife, she fell in love with it too. And from then on, it's become an annual Christmas favorite for my family. Now my daughter is 17 and about to graduate high school and I think she'll take this song with her as a reminder of a tradition that our family listened to every Christmas.

Engineer James - Rockin Around the Christmas Tree - MercyMe - I love Christmas music.  I love the joy, the crisp bite in the air, and the happiness the celebration of the Christ child brings, unifying not just our country but the entire world.  And, most of all, I love the "sentimental feeling" expressed in the song that comes from the celebration each year.  Rockin' around the Christmas tree, like no other song, brings that sentimental feeling because it instantly brings to mind everything that Christmas stands for.  It can be the hottest day of summer and just a couple notes of the song can transport me back in time to the joy and delight, both of a celebration of family, and a celebration of the best gift that I've ever been given...Jesus Christ.
